Today, more Filipino-Americans are taking a stand and raising their voices when their freedom and livelihoods are threatened.
This is how Principal Mary Rose Peralta’s story starts. Known as one of the trailblazers in the Education sector for Fil-Ams in San Diego, she has been guiding the youth as the Principal of Chula Vista High School since 2013. But in 2020, she was demoted unexpectedly and The Fil-Am Community of San Diego felt it was because of race.
Her story is a testament to this amazing power of Bayanihan, a unique calling within us Filipinos to rally for one of our own and stand together, side by side, Walang Iwanan (Nobody Gets Left Behind).
You know that our community has been stepped on for a long time and it is now time to work together as a community. What happened to Mary Rose can happen to any one of us.
